To Everyone at Twestival SF
I was so honored this year when I found out that Operation Smile, and my 140Smiles.org campaign was chosen as the organization that would benefit from fundraising efforts at the 2009 San Francisco Twestival.
As many of you know, this cause is very close to me, as my brother who died, had a cleft palate. He had passed before he had his surgery, and what remained for my parents was years of regret, helplessness and grief over his loss.
When Renee Hamilton- Operation Smile’s social media guru came to me to work with Operation Smile as their Twitter Smile Ambassador, I knew this was how I could honor my brother…finally.
The 140smiles.org campaign we came up with for the Twitter community will help 140 children get new smiles, and change their lives forever.
THANK YOU, Krystyl Baldwin for your undying passion and hard work for this event, and all the volunteers, sponsors, donors, Robin Mircoff from Operation Smile, and guests who made that special night in San Francisco happen. I am truly humbled.
Thank you Renee Hamilton for reaching out to me that fateful Twitter day that changed my life and has allowed me to help children in need.
The TwestivalSF fundraising evening raised 23 more smiles, which means 23 more children will have their lives changed. That is directly because of Twestival thankfully. I also want to thank Amanda for creating Twestival. So many organizations are helped because of your efforts and for this amazing event that reaches into communities to lend a hand.
I thank the founders of Twitter. We all would not have connected, nor come together in this capacity, would have not been for you and your brilliance, creating a platform for communities to come together and fundraise together in social media. You truly have changed the world for the better. You have changed my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
23 more kids get 23 new smiles. THANK YOU ALL!
